Zemen Bet Ethiopia Review

Zemen Bet was a local Ethiopian sportsbook that put sports betting and a casino lobby under one account. The name comes from the Amharic word “zemen”, which means “era”. The brand is not connected to Zemen Bank, a separate company that has nothing to do with betting. In this Zemen Bet review we explain who ran the brand, what the platform offered, how birr payments worked and what its status is today.

We based this review on archived copies of the official site, the regulator’s published lists and our own check of the domain in October 2026. Many figures repeated online come only from third-party review sites, and we flag them as unconfirmed.

The short version: at our last check in October 2026, zemenbet.com could not be opened from our test location, and the most recent archived copy of the site is from November 2025. Read the rest as a description of how the brand worked, not as an invitation to sign up.

What is Zemen Bet?

Zemenbet.com described itself as an online betting platform for Ethiopia covering sports, casino and more. The earliest archived copy we found dates from March 2024. Review sites place the launch at around 2022, but we could not confirm that year from any official source.

The company behind the brand appears to be Zemen Sports Betting Plc. That name appeared on the regulator’s December 2025 list of suspended sports-betting companies, and it matches the brand, although we found no document that links the two directly. Being on that list implies that Zemen Bet held a sports-betting licence from the national lottery regulator before December 2025. The site footer carried the usual line about being licensed under the Ethiopian National Lottery.

The archived front-end code shows a white-label platform that several other local brands also used. It had an Amharic and an English interface and could be opened as a web app inside Telegram. That explains why the site looked much like some competitors, and why some details in the code may be platform defaults rather than the brand’s own settings.

Zemen Bet registration and login

We could not open a new account because the site was not reachable at our last check. The brand did not publish a sign-up guide that we could find, so here is how registration typically works on Ethiopian betting sites built on this kind of platform:

1. You enter an Ethiopian mobile number in the +251 format.
2. You choose a password or a numeric PIN.
3. You confirm the number with a one-time code sent by SMS.
4. You confirm that you are 21 or older, which is the legal minimum age for betting in Ethiopia.

Logging in and lost passwords

On sites like this you typically log in with the same phone number and password, and you reset a forgotten password with a new SMS code. A login page that asks for card details or for your telebirr code is not a normal login screen.

Deposits and withdrawals in birr

Review sites list telebirr, CBE Birr, M-Birr and Amole as the brand’s payment methods. These are common Ethiopian mobile-money options, but we could not confirm the list from the brand itself. Figures quoted online for the minimum deposit contradict each other, so we do not repeat them here. The same applies to claims of “instant” or 24-hour withdrawals: we found nothing official to support them.

Since 15 December 2025, banks and payment operators in Ethiopia have been ordered to block betting transactions, so none of these channels can be expected to work for a betting account today. Our guide to telebirr and CBE Birr betting payments explains how each wallet works and what changed.

Sports betting and odds

The archived site confirms that Zemen Bet ran a sportsbook. As on most Ethiopian sites, football was the core of the offer: the English Premier League is by far the most followed league in the country, and the Ethiopian Premier League is the main domestic competition. Review sites also mention live betting and virtual sports. We could not confirm either from the archive, and we found no evidence of a cash-out feature.

We have no reliable margin data, so the odds score in our table reflects missing information rather than a measured comparison.

Casino, virtual games, Aviator and keno

The site title advertised a casino as well as sports, so there was a casino section next to the sportsbook. Review sites say it included slots and crash games such as Aviator, but no independent source confirms this. We found no sign of keno. If you are interested in that game, our page on keno betting online in Ethiopia explains how it works and what the real odds are.

Zemen Bet bonuses and promotions

Some review sites describe a welcome package, a promo code and an accumulator boost. We could not find any of these offers on the archived official site, so we treat them as unverified and do not repeat the amounts. With the brand not operating, a “Zemen Bet bonus code” seen on social media today is more likely bait than a real offer.

Mobile site and app

We found no official Zemen Bet app for Android or iOS. The brand worked as a mobile website, and the platform could also be opened inside Telegram. Do not install APK files offered under its name by look-alike sites: they have no connection to the original operator and may carry malware.

Is Zemen Bet safe?

We cannot call any Ethiopian brand licensed today, and this one is no exception. Any licence it held before December 2025 is no longer valid. A few other points matter if you look the brand up:

• We found no official Telegram channel. Small channels with similar names may have nothing to do with the operator.
• Domains with other endings, such as zemenbet.et, are third-party review sites and not the operator, and zemen.bet is a parked domain.
• Zemen Bank is a completely separate company, so do not confuse the two when you search.
• Betting is for adults aged 21 and over. If betting has stopped being fun, our responsible gambling page lists free support options.

Our verdict on Zemen Bet

Zemen Bet was a typical local sportsbook: football first, a casino section on the side, Ethiopian mobile money and a shared white-label platform. Very little about it can be verified today. Its bonuses, limits and payout speeds are known only from third-party claims, and the site was not reachable at our last check in October 2026. That is why its rating is modest. If the brand comes back under a new licensing system, we will test it again and update this review.
