Top 10 Betting Sites in Ethiopia (2026)

This is our ranking of betting sites in Ethiopia for 2026, built from our own checks of each brand's website, official Telegram channels and archived pages. We score every bookmaker on the same five criteria and re-check the list regularly; the version below reflects our check of 9 October 2026.

One fact shapes the whole table: since 15 December 2025 no sports-betting operator in Ethiopia holds a valid licence. Some sites from the old market are still online, some have announced a return, and many have simply disappeared. The ranking therefore tells you what each brand offers and how it compares, while the status line in every review tells you whether the website could be reached at our last check.

Ranking by our editorial score (licence, payments, odds, app, support). Checked 9 October 2026. Ad links, 21+.

Places six to ten go to Ahadu Birr, Habesha Bet, TotoSport, Qwick Bet and Winner. Ahadu Birr was online at our check and focuses on slots and crash games rather than sports; the status of Habesha Bet is unclear; TotoSport, Qwick Bet and Winner were not reachable. We keep them in the ranking for reference, and their reviews say so plainly.

How we rank Ethiopian bookmakers

Each brand receives a score out of 10 in five areas, and the scores are shown in the fact table of every review next to the overall rating:

• Licence and safety – licence history before December 2025, offshore status, stale licence claims, clone domains, the 21+ rule.
• Payments in ETB – which wallets and gateways are listed, whether the account runs in birr, how clearly the 20% winnings tax is shown.
• Odds and markets – depth of football coverage (Ethiopian Premier League, English Premier League, other European leagues), live betting, cash-out, other sports.
• Mobile and app – how the mobile site works and whether an app is offered from the brand's own domain.
• Support – published channels, languages (Amharic in particular) and whether the contacts match the brand's official accounts.

We also label each brand's website status: online, online – status unclear (the site loads, but we could not confirm how it operates under the current rules) or not reachable / suspended. A strong product does not make up for a weak licence score, which is why no brand in this table gets close to 10.

Best betting sites in Ethiopia: the top five up close

1. Best Bet (7.9/10)

Best Bet announced its return on 15 June 2026, after the licence revocation, and its official Telegram channel was posting daily at our October check. The product is broad: a sportsbook with live betting and cash-out, daily virtual tournaments, slots and crash games such as Aviator and JetX. In July 2026 it advertised a weekly 10% cashback on casino and virtual losses and an accumulator bonus of up to 400%. The only deposit method it mentions is telebirr, the channel posts in Amharic, and support runs through Telegram. It holds no Ethiopian licence. Read the Best Bet review.

2. Konjo Bet (7.6/10)

Konjo Bet appears to run on the same white-label platform as Best Bet, and its website links to Best Bet's social channels. Its site, konjo.bet, was online at our check with a full sportsbook, live betting, cash-out, casino, live casino, crash games, virtuals and poker in one account. Registration uses a +251 phone number, and the betslip shows potential winnings before and after tax – a useful detail for Ethiopian players. The interface is available in English, Amharic and French. Read the Konjo Bet review.

3. WinWinBet (7.5/10)

WinWinBet is an international offshore brand. According to industry databases, it launched in 2023 and is operated by Alasia Soft B.V. under a Curaçao licence; it is not regulated in Ethiopia. The site supports accounts in ETB, a large sportsbook with live and multi-live betting, esports and a very large casino lobby. The main domain redirects to changing mirror addresses, which makes clone sites harder to spot. In October 2026 an industry database listed a casino welcome package for Ethiopia of up to Br64,000 plus 150 free spins with 35x wagering. Read the WinWinBet review.

4. BetX (7.2/10)

BetX at betx.et describes itself as a site for virtual sports and instant games, and its footer credits the BetFounders platform. Its lobby includes slots from Pragmatic Play and Amusnet, Spribe titles including Aviator and Keno, and a long list of crash games. A real-money sportsbook could not be confirmed. The footer still shows a national lottery licence number dated 2016 in the Ethiopian calendar, which predates the 2025 revocation. In October 2026 it advertised 10 free bets on a first deposit of 50 birr or more. Read the BetX review.

5. QwickBirr (7.0/10)

QwickBirr began as a casino and crash-game brand – its official channel started in November 2023 – and added a sports tab only in August 2025. Its strengths are Aviator, JetX, Golden Race virtual racing and keno, plus an Android app downloaded from its own website. M-Pesa is the only payment method the brand itself confirmed. The website was online at our check, but its official Telegram channel has been silent since November 2025. Read the QwickBirr review.

Ethiopian betting sites that are no longer available

The brands below were active in the Ethiopian market before the shutdown. At our check on 9 October 2026 none of them showed signs of normal operation: their websites were offline, parked, redirected or showing a suspension notice, or the brand had announced a suspension. Their reviews explain what each brand offered and what happened to it.

Some of these brands told customers they would return, and Afro Bet publicly promised to hold player balances during the suspension. If one of them comes back, we will re-test it and update its review.

How to choose a safe betting site in Ethiopia

With no licensed operator in the country, the usual advice to "check the licence" does not help much. These checks still protect you:

• Verify the domain. Many look-alike .et and .com sites copy a brand's name and colours. Some are review sites, others are outright clones. Compare the address with the one named in the brand's official channels, and be wary of sites that only exist as a Telegram link.
• Read licence claims critically. A footer that says "licensed by the National Lottery Administration" describes, at best, the situation before December 2025.
• Do not send money to "agents". The ELS has warned the public not to deposit through agents, apps or social-media pages.
• Install apps only from the brand's own domain, and never share your PIN or one-time codes with anyone claiming to be support.
• Know the rules that applied: betting is for people aged 21 and over, and winnings from games of chance are taxed at 20%, withheld by the operator.
