Abol Bet Ethiopia Review

Abol Bet takes its name from abol, the first round of the Ethiopian coffee ceremony – a fitting choice for a brand that wanted to sound local from the first click. Abol bet ran at abolbet.com and combined football betting with keno, virtual games, casino titles and, at the very end, its own fantasy football game. In this review we look at what the site offered, how payments in birr worked and why it stopped.

On 17 December 2025 Abol Bet announced on its official Telegram channel that its service was suspended indefinitely on the order of the National Lottery, “until the issue is resolved”. There have been no posts since. At our last check in October 2026, abolbet.com blocked our connection from outside Ethiopia, so we could not see the live page; going by the brand’s own announcement, it is inactive.

What is Abol Bet?

Abol Bet was a locally oriented betting site that was active from at least August 2024, when the domain first appears in web archives. The site described itself as offering sports betting, keno and virtual games, and its Telegram presence was strong for a local brand: the official channel @abolbet1 had about 3,800 subscribers, while a football news channel, @abol_sport, carried the line “Sponsored by @abolbet1” and had close to 40,000 followers.

Under the hood, Abol Bet used the same local white-label platform as several other Ethiopian brands, including TopBet7, Zemen Bet and AfroSports. The interface could be switched between English, Amharic and French, and the footer carried the line “Licensed Under Ethiopian National Lottery” without a licence number. We could not identify the company behind the brand.

One detail shows how abruptly things ended: on 13 December 2025 Abol Bet announced “Abol Fantasy”, a fantasy football game starting with Chelsea v Everton. Two days later every sports-betting licence in Ethiopia was revoked.

Abol Bet registration and login

We could not open an account, because the service was suspended before our review, and the archived pages do not show the full sign-up form. Registration on Ethiopian sites built on this platform typically works with a mobile number in the +251 format, a password or PIN, and a one-time SMS code. Only adults aged 21 and over were allowed to bet.

Logging in and getting help

Login used the phone number and password. When something went wrong, Abol Bet offered unusually good support for a local brand: three call-centre lines, reachable by phone and on Telegram, plus a live chat on the website. Today, be careful with search results – a lookalike .et domain with “abolbet” in the name is a third-party review site, and abol.bet is a parked domain. Neither is the operator.

Deposits and withdrawals in birr

According to the brand configuration we found in the archived site code from October 2025, Abol Bet worked with:

• CBE Birr, through a pay-bill number on the *847# menu;
• the payment gateways ArifPay, SantimPay and Chapa.

HelloCash also appears in the platform’s text strings, and one review site lists telebirr, but the brand itself never confirmed telebirr in the material we reviewed. The same configuration set the betting limits: a minimum stake of 20 birr, a maximum stake of 5,000 birr and a maximum win of 350,000 birr per bet. Sports betting and odds

Football was the main sport at Abol Bet, as on every Ethiopian site: the English Premier League, other European leagues and the Ethiopian Premier League attract most of the betting in the country. Cash-out was switched on in the site configuration, and in December 2025 the brand ran a “Super Cashout Bonus”. We did not find clear evidence of a live (in-play) section and did not measure the odds, so we do not publish a margin figure.

The fantasy game was a genuinely different idea for the local market, built around Premier League fixtures rather than single bets – but Abol Fantasy was announced only days before the shutdown, so it had little or no time to run.

Casino, virtual games, Aviator and keno

Abol Bet put games almost on a par with sport. Its site and Telegram posts covered:

• keno, including a classic keno variant – our keno betting guide explains how the game works;
• virtual sports and other virtual games;
• casino games in a separate games section;
• crash and instant games – the configuration and posts name Aviator, JetX, Chicken Road and Chicken Air.

Keno and crash games are popular in Ethiopia precisely because they are quick, and that is also their risk. A stake limit of 20 birr sounds small, but dozens of rounds in an evening add up.

Abol Bet bonuses and promotions

We can date three promotions from Abol Bet’s own channels and pages:

• October 2025 – the site description mentioned free bets, promo codes and a registration bonus, without amounts;
• 13 December 2025 – a raffle: deposit and play casino games for a chance to win 1,500,000 birr;
• 15 December 2025 – a “Super Cashout Bonus” for sports bets.

Two days after the raffle was announced, the service was suspended, so none of these offers is available now.

Mobile site and app

Abol Bet had a dedicated app page that offered an Android APK download, described as the Abolbet app for mobile betting in Ethiopia. That page is no longer available, and we found no iOS app. If an “Abol Bet APK” turns up in a Telegram group, do not install it: a file from an unknown source can read your SMS codes and capture your login details.

Is Abol Bet safe?

Abol Bet was more open than many local brands: it ran an active official Telegram channel, three support lines and a live chat, and it told its players clearly when it stopped. On the other hand, the operating company is not named anywhere we could find, the licence line in the footer had no number, and since 15 December 2025 no betting operator in Ethiopia holds a valid licence. If you had a balance on your account, keep your records – the December 2025 order required operators to settle customer balances.

Our verdict on Abol Bet

Abol bet was one of the more characterful local brands: a name drawn from the coffee ceremony, a strong keno and virtual-games offer, clear stake limits of 20 to 5,000 birr, three support lines on Telegram and even its own fantasy football game. Its weak points were the unconfirmed telebirr option, the anonymous operator and an app that disappeared with the service. Since its own announcement on 17 December 2025 the brand has been inactive, and we will update this review only if Abol Bet returns under new rules.
