Ethio Bet Review

Ethio Bet was a local online sportsbook run by Ethio Bet PLC from Bole sub-city in Addis Ababa, with its website at ethiobet.et. It combined a pre-match book with cash-out, Kiron virtual sports and crash games such as Aviator, and it took payments in birr through telebirr, CBE Birr and M-Pesa. At our last check on 10 October 2026, however, ethiobet.et did not load, so this review describes what the brand offered rather than a site you can use today.

Our main sources are the operator’s own settings file archived in March 2025 and archived copies of its website; where a claim comes only from a review site, we say so. Despite the similar name, Ethio Betting (ethio-betting.org) is an independent review site with no connection to the operator and cannot open or recover accounts.

What is Ethio Bet?

The company presented itself as a provider of sports, virtual and other gaming services. The first archived copies of ethiobet.et date from January 2023 and a full betting site was online by June 2023, so the brand appears to have launched around 2023. Its code contains references to several other local brands, which suggests a shared Ethiopian white-label platform – a common software supplier, not necessarily common ownership.

The site displayed a statement that the company held licence number 002/2015 (Ethiopian calendar) from the National Lottery Administration, the regulator now called the Ethiopian Lottery Service. We could not check that number against an official register, and it no longer applies: every sports-betting licence in Ethiopia was revoked on 15 December 2025, and no operator holds one today.

Ethio Bet registration and login

According to the archived settings, sign-up was based on an Ethiopian mobile number with the +251 code: new players chose their region or city from a list of twelve and then confirmed the registration. Besides the website, bets could be placed through a Telegram bot, by SMS and in cash at branches and agents, who used a separate cashier portal. We could not test any of this, because the site no longer responds.

If you had an Ethiobet account

The support contacts published in 2025 are unlikely to work now, so we do not repeat them. Never give your phone number, PIN or wallet details to anyone who offers to “restore” an Ethiobet balance.

Deposits and withdrawals in birr

According to its payment settings from March 2025, the bookmaker used three local gateways: SantimPay for deposits from CBE Birr and telebirr, ArifPay for deposits from M-Pesa and telebirr, and Chapa for payments from accounts at Awash Bank, CBE, Bank of Abyssinia and Dashen Bank. SantimPay and ArifPay paid withdrawals out to telebirr, and cash was accepted at branches and agents.

In the same settings the minimum deposit was 20 birr and the maximum 3,000 birr; some review sites quote a 50-birr minimum, but the operator’s own figure was lower. Stake limits were reportedly 1 birr online, 10 birr at a branch and up to 1,000 birr per bet in March 2025. Our guide to telebirr and CBE Birr betting payments explains how these wallets work.

Sports betting and odds

The brand was first of all a pre-match sportsbook. Confirmed features include cash-out, a ticket checker and a sports jackpot module, although the jackpot list archived in March 2025 was empty. Review sites mention live betting, but the operator’s own material does not confirm it. Without an archived list of sports, leagues or prices, we cannot rate its odds or margins.

Casino, virtual games, Aviator and keno

Virtual sports were a strength: the site used Kiron, with products such as Kiron Lite, Fetan League and Mula League in the interface. In March 2025 the casino menu was split into Instant Win, Live Casino, Lottery, Slot, Table Game and Virtual Sports. Aviator from Spribe had its own page from at least December 2024 until December 2025, and the code also referred to JetX from SmartSoft. We found no keno games in the archived material.

Ethio Bet bonuses and promotions

The best-documented offer is the “Lost by One / Lost by Two” accumulator refund, rule 67 in the site’s terms. It was in force on 8 March 2025, the date of the archived copy; when it started or ended is unknown. Both versions required a stake of at least 10 birr. Lost by One covered slips of five or more selections that lost by a single leg, Lost by Two slips of ten or more selections that lost by two legs. The refund was a multiple of the stake, set by the total odds of the slip:

The bet slip also had a multi-bet bonus line, but we found no official percentages for it. Some review sites mention a free bet on registration, a first-deposit match and cashback; we could not confirm any of these, so we quote no figures.

Mobile site and app

There was no native app: the Android and iOS download fields in the operator’s settings were empty. The site worked in a phone browser as a web app, alongside the Telegram bot and SMS betting, in English, Amharic and French. Its only Telegram link was a private invite. An APK offered under the brand name on a third-party website does not come from the operator and should not be installed.

Is Ethio Bet safe?

With the official site offline, the main risk is look-alike domains. ethio-bet.com is a doorway page that claims a Curaçao licence and an app and passes visitors on to an unrelated redirect service; it is not the operator. ethiobet.com and ethiobets.com are offered for sale, ethiobet.bet is parked and ethiobet.net shows no content. Our verdict on Ethio Bet

On paper, Ethiobet had a lot going for it: a 20-birr minimum deposit, seven local payment routes, Kiron virtuals, Aviator and a refund promo for accumulators that missed by one or two legs. Against that, it ran on a shared platform with little information of its own, had no native app, and its website has not worked since December 2025.
