WinBirr was an Ethiopian sports betting brand that built its business on betting shops and agents rather than on a polished website. If you are searching for winbirr today, the short answer is that the online side of the brand is no longer active: at our last check on 9 October 2026, winbirr.com redirected to an unrelated website.

This WinBirr review collects what we could confirm about the operator, how betting with it worked, which payment methods it was associated with and why we no longer treat it as a place to open an account. Where the only source is an affiliate review, we say so.

What is WinBirr?

According to a business directory listing, WINBIRR Sport Betting was based in Addis Ababa, with an office in the 6 Kilo area. The name joins “win” and “birr”, the Ethiopian currency. The brand was retail-first: most customers placed their bets in shops or through agents, and the website played a supporting role.

Some review sites claim that WinBirr started in 2018 and held a licence from the national lottery regulator; we could not confirm either point from an official source. The domain winbirr.com was used by the bookmaker in the past, but it now points elsewhere, and we found no public Telegram channel under the brand name.

WinBirr registration and login

Older reviews describe two ways to play. Players could register with an Ethiopian phone number and log in with a one-time SMS code, or they could build a bet slip without an account, receive a ticket code and pay for it in cash at a WinBirr shop. We could not test either route ourselves, because the website is no longer reachable.

If you still have an open ticket or a balance with WinBirr, contact the operator through the shop or the channel you used before. Ethio Betting is not connected to the brand and cannot recover accounts.

Deposits and withdrawals in birr

Review sites list telebirr, CBE Birr, Kacha, Awash Birr and bank transfers through banks such as CBE, Awash, Dashen, Abyssinia and Enat, plus cash at the shops. These lists come from affiliate reviews that contradict each other in places, so treat them as historical. Claims of withdrawals “within 24 hours” and of a very low minimum deposit are also unconfirmed. Sports betting and odds

Football was the core of the WinBirr book, as for nearly every Ethiopian bookmaker: the English Premier League, the other big European leagues and the Ethiopian Premier League are what local bettors follow most. Reviews from 2022 also mention live betting, virtual sports and even esports such as Dota 2 and CS:GO. These come from single sources, and with no live site we could not check the odds or margins ourselves.

Games, bonuses and the app

One review mentions a “Games” section and jackpot promotions; other sources say nothing about casino games, Aviator or keno. On bonuses the sources disagree completely: a recent affiliate page advertises a large first-deposit bonus, while a 2022 review and another review site say WinBirr offered no bonuses at all. We do not repeat bonus figures we cannot confirm.

The same goes for mobile. One review refers to an Android APK, an older one says there was no app, and we could not find any official WinBirr app download. An APK offered on a third-party website under the WinBirr name should not be installed.

Is WinBirr safe?

Because the official domain now redirects to an unrelated site, any page that presents itself as WinBirr today cannot be linked to the original operator. Several affiliate pages still use the name and promise bonuses; do not enter your phone number, PIN or payment details on them. Our verdict on WinBirr

WinBirr belongs to the generation of Ethiopian bookmakers that grew out of betting shops, and its shop-and-ticket model will be familiar to many local players.
