Habesha betting usually means Habesha Bet, one of the older local sportsbook brands in Ethiopia. The name comes from “habesha”, the word Ethiopians and Eritreans use for themselves – so it is no surprise that many unrelated sites carry it too.
In this Habesha Bet review we look at the brand’s history, its sportsbook, the payment methods linked to it and its mobile options, and we explain what we could and could not confirm about its status in October 2026.
What is Habesha Bet?
The brand goes back to the betting-shop era. According to a January 2019 report in the business weekly Addis Fortune, Habesha Sports Betting was then about two years old and ran 23 branches, which places its start around 2017. One review site names SV Gaming Ltd as the operator of the online brand; we could not confirm a link between that company and the original retail business.
Today the brand’s website is habeshabets.com. It appears to run on the Energaming white-label platform, the same software that Arada Bet uses. At our last check on 9 October 2026 the site loaded, but we could not verify whether betting was actually available, and we found no official Telegram channel. That is why the status in our facts table is marked as unclear.
What we like
- One of the oldest local brands, with shops since about 2017
- Broad football coverage incl. the Ethiopian Premier League
- Local payment methods and cash at branches
What could be better
- Current status of online betting is unclear
- Bonus information is contradictory
- No verified support numbers
Habesha Bet registration and login
We found no reliable description of the Habesha Bet sign-up process, and our October 2026 check did not get as far as a working registration form, so we will not describe steps we have not seen. If you already have an account, type the habeshabets.com address yourself and use only the support channels shown on that site. Never enter your password or PIN on a look-alike domain.
Deposits and withdrawals in birr
Review sites list telebirr, CBE Birr and HelloCash for online payments, plus cash at the branches; a 2019 press report mentioned that HelloCash was being integrated at the time. We found no confirmed minimum deposit, withdrawal limit or payout time, so treat any figures you see elsewhere with caution. Our guide to telebirr and CBE Birr betting payments explains how these methods work.
Sports betting and odds
Football is the heart of the Habesha Bet book. Reviews put the total at somewhere between 20 and 30-plus sports, with live betting on the main events. One review also mentions a product called Mix Match, though we could not see how it works. Without access to current prices we cannot rate the odds against other Ethiopian bookmakers, so we stay neutral on margins.
Casino and virtual games
Reviews describe a basic casino section and virtual sports, plus jackpot promotions whose name we could not find. We saw no confirmed Aviator or keno games. If those are what you are after, Habesha Bet has never been known for them – it is a sportsbook first.
Habesha Bet bonuses and promotions
Bonus information is contradictory. One review advertises a large percentage welcome bonus, another describes a much smaller offer with a cap, and a third says there is no bonus at all. Affiliate sites using the Habesha name also promise generous first-deposit deals. As none of this is confirmed, we do not quote any figures.
Mobile site and app
Some reviews mention an Android app for Habesha Bet; others say none exists, and we found no app for iPhone. The habeshabets.com site is built as a web application, so in principle it opens in a phone browser without any download. Do not install APK files from third-party websites that use the Habesha name.
Is Habesha Bet safe?
The biggest practical risk is the name itself. A parked domain without the final “s”, Amharic affiliate sites and template pages promising large bonuses all use “habesha” in their addresses. Check that you are on habeshabets.com before typing anything. Reviews mention live chat, e-mail and phone support in English and Amharic, but we could not verify any contact numbers. Betting is for adults aged 21+ only; our responsible gambling page explains how to set limits.
Our verdict on Habesha Bet
Habesha Bet has real history behind it: a retail network from around 2017, broad football coverage and local payment methods. What holds it back is uncertainty – the current status of its online betting is unclear, its bonus information is contradictory and there are no verified support contacts. Check the status in our facts table before you act, and compare it with the other brands on our list of Ethiopian betting sites.
