How this site is financed and how we keep our reviews independent.

Ethio Betting is free to read. To pay for research, writing and translation into Amharic and Afaan Oromoo, we use affiliate links to betting sites. This page explains what that means, how those links are marked and why they do not influence our reviews.

How affiliate links work

Some buttons and banners on our site – the “Visit” buttons in our rankings, partner banners and the call-to-action boxes at the end of reviews – are affiliate links. If you follow one of them and open an account with the bookmaker, we may receive a commission from the bookmaker or from its affiliate programme. Depending on the agreement, this can be a one-off fee or a share of the operator’s revenue. You never pay more and never receive a worse offer because you came through our link.

How we mark them

  • Partner banners carry an “Ad” label together with the age limit and a note that terms and conditions apply.
  • Affiliate links go through addresses on our own domain that begin with /go/, and they carry the rel="sponsored" attribute, so search engines also know they are paid links.
  • Links inside the text of our articles are editorial: they lead to other pages of Ethio Betting, never to a bookmaker’s registration page.

Our ratings stay independent

Every brand is scored on the same five criteria – licence and safety, payments in ETB, odds and markets, mobile and app, and support – each worth 20%. Our rankings are ordered by that score. A commercial agreement does not buy a higher score, a better position or the removal of criticism, and we never accept payment for a review. We also review brands we have no agreement with, and we keep reviews of brands that have closed, so readers can see what happened to them. If a partner’s conditions get worse, the review changes. Our full method is described on the about page.

Before you follow a link

Since 15 December 2025, no operator holds a valid sports-betting licence in Ethiopia. Before you act on any link, read the status shown in the review and our guide to betting in Ethiopia. Betting is for adults aged 21 and over only; set a budget you can afford to lose and use the advice on our responsible gambling page.
